Sometimes I just don’t know! It has a drawer and you could scoot a chair up and work at it….it’s a desk? It’s not too wide and could stand alone…it’s a table? Whatever it is, I think it turned out quite nicely! Two coats of MMSMP Schloss with bonding agent mixed in and a coat of our custom mix of furniture and antiquing waxes to finish…

In all honesty, I would not have purchased this shelf if we had not gotten a request in our wish list book for a shelf in the shape of a boat! I’m so glad we did though because look at how RIDICULOUSLY CUTE this is…
We applied one coat in MMSMP tricycle (no bonding because it was unfinished wood) to the exterior and then accented the raised edges in artissimo. We finished the whole piece in our antiquing wax and then tacked on the little knot at the top. Adorbs! And still available!!

The colors of the month for November are Curio, a rich brown meant to look like the color of an old curio cabinet, and mustard seed yellow, a lovely gold.
We use curio as a stain more than a paint. It’s one of my favorite treatments for raw wood. For our milk paint stain, we mix 1 part curio to 3 parts water for a nice, rich brown. Some people like to wipe the stain but I like to let it set up. This is one of the techniques we teach in our Milk Paint 101 class. We did paint a secretary in curio a while back and it turned out quite nicely…
I am really excited to talk about Mustard Seed Yellow since we have been rediscovering it this year. It is a really nice gold-yellow and we have enjoyed playing around with different finishes. I am especially fond of white wax over mustard seed…
Here’s a little of what we’ve been up to with Mustard Seed Yellow…

The lines on this table are amazing, aren’t they? I love the little detail and the unusual shape of the base, wow!! We gave this little guy two coats of Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in Mora with the bonding agent mixed in and finished it with a coat of our custom mix of antiquing and furniture waxes. It’s so fancy!!

Before we received our first order of Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in 2012, I thought Lucketts Green was going to be my favorite color. I love green. Whenever I play the favorites game with my five year old, he knows. “Your favorite color is green, Mom. Do you like light green, dark green or medium?” My answer is usually light or medium so it makes sense that the light ever-so-slightly-blue-green of Lucketts would be my favorite. But it’s not. My fave is Boxwood, every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Marian and Homestead House created such a beautiful rich, true green with Boxwood that Lucketts never had a chance with me. It’s meant to look like the boxwood Marian loves to use in her decor. To me, it just looks like the color of outside. It reminds me of Spring…and Christmas…and of playing outside!
Here are two cute little before and afters of tables painted in MMSMP boxwood and finished with antiquing wax…
