fivethirty home milk paint tips
We have created a new series of MMSMP basic tips. These are not meant to be a substitute for our Milk Paint 101 or other workshops, but to be used if you have a quick question: how much paint should I mix? what finish should I use?
Look for them coming to the blog and newsletter! Here’s the first one…
before & after: rustic cabinet
before & after: trophy chest
You might remember this beautiful lingerie chest when we introduced our new MMSMP product, zinc wax, but she is worthy of a second look! I love how the zinc wax made the trophy pop…
before & after: yellow fellow
before & after: still crazy after all these years!
before & after: china cabinet
erica’s pick: all for fall!
The kids are back in school, at least in Zionsville they are, so that must mean fall is just around the corner! We have a lovely selection of fall goodies in the store, including some of our faves from last year, the felt pumkins!
We also have some new resin pumpkins in teal and brown…
We also have apples and our mercury glass pumkins and gourds…

Zinc Wax project #2
For our next project using our new MMSMP Zinc Wax, I chose an old, handmade cabinet. This one was also painted but we did not rough it up with sandpaper because it was very flat. We did, however, lose the weird screens that were misshapen due to use.
When my husband and I remodeled our half bath about 10 years ago, he built a cabinet and we covered the doors with sheet metal. It created a cool rustic look and we thought we would do the same on this cabinet. I LOVE how it turned out…
We got the sheet metal from Lowes. I liked that it was an unusual design and thought it fancied the whole piece up a bit! We painted a coat of Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in Typewriter, our dark gray/black, and finished the piece with two coats of Zinc Wax.
The shimmer of the Zinc Wax on MMSMP typewriter was very subtle. It is not overtly metallic but just covers very slightly and adds a little depth. I am excited to mix Zinc Wax with our other Waxes to see what fun finishes we can create! Be sure to get yours in store or online!
