The MMS Color of the Month for January is Ironstone, named after Marian’s favorite thing to collect – white ironstone china. It is an off-white shade with just a hint of gray. If you are going for white, this is the color for you. This color looks great alone, but can be paired with any color in the entire line. After all, as Miss Mustard Seed says, “White pairs well with everything.”
We’ve recently decorated our shop window with a big banner featuring a wood cutting board with Ironstone paint, then added furnishings painted in this beautiful winter white shade.
One piece featured in the window is this small secretary. As you can see from our before picture, it is a great solid, old piece but was in desperate need of some rejuvenation. We gave it three coats of Ironstone and finished with a soft antiquing wax.
We did another desk for a client and finished with tough coat…what a change, eh? So pretty.
