The colors of the month for November are Curio, a rich brown meant to look like the color of an old curio cabinet, and mustard seed yellow, a lovely gold.
We use curio as a stain more than a paint. It’s one of my favorite treatments for raw wood. For our milk paint stain, we mix 1 part curio to 3 parts water for a nice, rich brown. Some people like to wipe the stain but I like to let it set up. This is one of the techniques we teach in our Milk Paint 101 class. We did paint a secretary in curio a while back and it turned out quite nicely…
I am really excited to talk about Mustard Seed Yellow since we have been rediscovering it this year. It is a really nice gold-yellow and we have enjoyed playing around with different finishes. I am especially fond of white wax over mustard seed…
