colors of the month: typewriter and schloss

Oct 2, 2015 | Color of the Month, Milk Paint, News

We are loving this weather and next week looks to be even more like fall! YAY! For October, Miss Mustard Seed has chosen two lovely colors and a really interesting pairing. Typewriter, the black of the Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint Line, is a tried and true fave, and Schloss, a recent addition as part of the European Line, is the taupe/gray we’d all been waiting for!

But first, Typewriter…

A really dark charcoal, Typewriter doesn’t turn fully black until finished. Our favorite finish is Miss Mustard Seed’s Antiquing Wax, but we have been rocking the hemp oil sanded finish lately. Either (or both) turn this lovely color into a beautiful, rich black that we absolutely love. We’ve done tons of buffets, side tables and sofa tables in Typewriter.

And now, Schloss…

Schloss Collage

The German word for castle, Schloss is meant to be the color of the some of the beautiful old European castles. I often call it a taupe/gray because it can be either color depending on the light and choice of finish. My friend Kathy of Paint It Shabby did a beautiful white wax finish on Schloss and it looks so European. We’ve been sticking with our custom mix of Antiquing and Furniture Wax for a very soft, aged look.

Enjoy October and we hope you decided to paint a piece or two with these lovely colors!
