You’ve heard me talk about my friend, Kathy, and her beautiful shop in Naples, Florida. Paint in Shabby is a feast for the eyes, from the luxe chandelier over her workshop space to the bathroom (yes, even the bathroom is lovely at Kathy’s space)!
She always has a million ideas about how to repurpose and reuse whatever we find when we go junkin’ together in Florida! I mean, she made this…
So, when Kathy told me she was going to paint two floors in her own home with Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint, I didn’t bat and eye. This is what she does. She is the amazing — with her ideas AND her follow through.
Of course, she got the maple hardwood free from a friend! After they ripped up the carpet, she glued the wood onto concrete and sanded with 100 grit using the big sander. Next, she used the vacuum to collect dust and then attached a tack cloth to a drywall sander to get the rest of the dust.
After mixing Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in Grain Sack at full strength (she mixed 2 quarts paint and 2 quarts water), she applied two coats.
After sanding and using the tack cloth again, she sealed with Aqua Clear water based topcoat.
They are smooth and they are gorgeous. I want her to come to Indy, I know what I want to do on my stairs at home now!!
